THE Brics ministers of trade have urged their fellow G20 trade ministers to strengthen coordination in promoting a concerted response to current economic uncertainties. The call was made at the G20 trade meeting in Mexico.
Discussion themes included trade as a source of growth and jobs, and the imperative to keep markets open and to keep opening markets.

I still have to see the actual economic contribution of SA to the BRICS group. Is this an alliance of convenience or economic lifeline for SA ?Of all the member groups , SA is the only country within BRICS whose economy is declining year on year at 2.7%. BRICS can survive better being BRIC.
