Singing pastor to launch own church

GOSPEL musician and church pastor Donny Ngwenyama is joining a growing number of pastors who are launching their own churches.

Ngwenyama, who has changed many people's lives through his music, will officially launch the Rehoboth Christian Centre on February 27 at Manyama in White River, near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.

He says he has been waiting for this moment for too long.

"Since I performed in various places I saw how people loved and supported my music," he says.

"So now it is my time to motivate and encourage them that God will lead them to eternal life.

"People tend to give up very quickly, especially if things don't go their way. I am here to heal the broken hearts."

The launch will feature performances by various musicians from the Zuz'muzi stable, including the singing pastor himself.

Ngwenyama says the Rehoboth Christian Centre plans to form another branch in Mpumalanga.

He says he decided to establish his own church because he wants to continue with his mission to change people's lives by giving back to the community. He says the church has been in existence since 2009.

"The church will open a centre where homeless people will be accommodated. We will also make sure we feed old people," Ngwenyama says.

"There's also an initiative I started a long time ago to host a granny's day at which we entertain them. I have started the church to create a home for homeless and old people."

Ngwenyama is one of the top-selling gospel musicians. His album Basheshe Bahleka sold more than 20000 copies.
