Dogs tried to rescue a toddler from drowning in a residential swimming pool in Pietermaritzburg, paramedics said.
"In their frantic attempt to save the child it appears that they severely mauled her one arm," Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said.
Neighbours saw the two-year-old girl lying on the edge of the pool after the dogs had pulled her out of the water.
Paramedics arrived to find she had died on the scene.

It seems dogs are even more responsible than humans. At least they tried to save her life, although their act of love contributed to the tragedy. Rest in peace little one. We cannot blame the parents all the time about accidents involving toddlers. Remember parents have to work. Lets say where was the child minder/guardian?Report Abuse

Step Father did not like the child, he pushed her in the pool and went to keep the girl friend busy in the bed room. SisReport Abuse

This is the reason that I refused to live in a house with a swimming pool when my kids were small. They are fast little buggers. What lovely dogs. I hope they are rewarded for their attempt and not punished.
