Nine people die after collision in Limpopo

Nine people have been killed in a head-on collision outside Lebowakgomo in Limpopo on the R579 road.

According to Limpopo police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe‚ the police in Lebowakgomo are investigating a culpable homicide case that occurred on Tuesday morning after a truck and a taxi collided.

“It is alleged that today on the 2017-06-06 at about 07:00 a truck and a taxi have collided head-on along R579 road between Lebowakgomo and Jane Furse and subsequently nine (9) people lost their lives instantly and seven (07) others sustained serious injuries and they were taken to the local hospital for medical treatment‚” he said.

“The deceased are six men and three women‚ all from the minibus and they were from Ga-Masemola to Lebowakgomo. The driver of the truck and his crew sustained minor injuries.”
