It is common knowledge now that our country has been sold to the Guptas . The question many are asking is: "Can we get it back?" The answer is: "Yes, we can."

South Africa can be reclaimed from the Guptas only by a new government when Jacob Zuma is out of power. This would obviously not happen if Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma were to become our new president.

The first thing a new government must do is to issue an instruction that all members of the Gupta family, Zuma and all his wives and children, Malusi Gigaba, Mosebenzi Zwane, Brian Molefe and other Gupta agents must not be allowed to leave South Africa after the 2019 elections.

Immediately after the elections, all the known Gupta agents must be placed under 24-hour surveillance by our intelligence agencies to ensure that they don't skip the country through neighbouring countries such as Swaziland, Botswana or Zimbabwe.

The next step will be to declare them a special national project to be processed both by a presidential commission of inquiry and pure criminal prosecution.

A special court must be set up to deal with them.

This process must include the forfeiture of all assets owned by the Guptas and their agents in South Africa. The services of our best legal minds must be solicited to ensure that no stone is left unturned.

Such a legal process must include swift changes in the leadership of key institutions in the criminal justice system.

no skeletons in the closet.

Shaun Abrahams must be swiftly removed from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), to make way for an uncompromised head of the institution.

The new government would need to consider bringing back Vusi Pikoli or Gerrie Nel to head the NPA.

The alternative would be for the new president after 2019 to make a special request for Thuli Madonsela either to lead the NPA or to serve as justice minister overseeing a national anti-state capture project.

The mandate must be clear: Get the Guptas, Zuma and all their collaborators behind bars.

The goal must be to teach all would-be state capturers that you cannot get away with corruption.

The forfeiture of Gupta asserts would need to include Icasa's withdrawal of ANN7 TV's licence to operate.

After the elections no government department must be allowed to distribute The New Age newspaper.

The search torch of the ant-state capture project must shine on state-owned companies, to ensure that all looting schemes are halted.

This would include the dissolution of collaborative boards and the firing and arrest of all corrupt executives who worked with the Guptas.

All of this would need to be accompanied by an aggressive public campaign against state capture. Such a campaign would include broadcasting the arrest and conviction of all Gupta-linked agents.

The SABC would need to be given enough money to produce a special documentary showcasing the suffering of all Gupta associates who are in jail for state capture.

This must be done to remind citizens that corrupt power ends tragically.

Even if it is a coalition government between the DA and the EFF, the new government would need to show political maturity by reappointing Pravin Gordhan as finance minister to show the public that loyalty to the country pays.

A new national order of patriotism would need to be conferred on Nhlanhla Nene, Mcebisi Jonas and Andrew Feinstein for their unwavering service and commitment to our republic.

The point is to ensure that the new government penalises state capture so heavily that no one dares to do it again.
