JMPD search for source of incriminating 'bribe' video

Johannesburg metro police are searching for a motorist who filmed two officers allegedly taking a bribe from two men in Bez Valley.

The officers have since been suspended and a criminal case has been opened but the call has been made for the person who captured the video to come forward to strengthen the police’s case.

“The JMPD is making an appeal to the person who took the footage‚ to contact JMPD Internal Affairs at corner Village Roadd and Loveday Street or call 011 490-1797 during office hours to give a statement which will help to secure this case‚” said Chief Superintendant Wayne Minnaar.

In the 1.38 minute video‚ the two men are seen emptying their pockets and giving all their contents to the officers who are seated in an official JMPD vehicle.

One of the officers is also seen putting his hands in the pockets of the briber‚ checking for more money.

After dropping some of the contents from their pockets‚ the men are seen getting on their knees‚ searching for the dropped merchandise to give to the cops.

It is unclear what offence the men had committed which led to them bribing the officers.
