Dlamini-Zuma happy to be back home

Former African Union Commission Chairperson Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma says she is happy to be back in South Africa after successfully finishing her term in Addis Ababa‚ Ethiopia.

“Thank you very much for such a warm welcome‚ I am can feel that I am at home‚” Dlamini-Zuma told the awaiting well-wishers and the media on Wednesday afternoon on her arrival at OR Tambo International Airport.

“As you know I have been away for four and half years working at the AU. I was sent by the ANC‚ government and the continental leadership. The four years have been a very interesting experience for me.”

She thanked every stakeholder that played a role in ensuring that her responsibilities were carried out.

Dlamini-Zuma added has learnt a lot whilst away and will share with members of the ANC and public in due course.

 The former AU Commission Chairperson is only one of three women who has served under all the democratic presidents.

She was minister of Health (1994-1999) under Nelson Mandela and minister of Foreign Affiars (1999-2009) under presidents Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe.

She also served as minister of Home Affairs in her ex-husband’s cabinet until May 2009 when she took office at the AU.
