Rescuers are resuming the search for a youngster who was swept away by floods in Johannesburg yesterday.

“The search will continue this morning. It was called off last night because it was dark‚” said Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesman Wayne Minnaar on Friday morning.

Minnaar said there were conflicting reports about the age of the child‚ who went missing in Soweto on Thursday.

He said water levels had dropped but roads were still not completely clear.

South African Weather Services predicted clearer skies for Gauteng on Friday.
