Malema takes aim at Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema on Monday fired a barrage of criticism at South Africa’s Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane‚ despite his party approving her appointment last year.

“We are playing the role of the public protector better than Busi Mkhwebane‚” he told a news conference in Johannesburg.

Challenging whether she was upholding the independence of the office‚ the outspoken opposition politician charged:

"We just took a Gupta puppet from the Gupta's kitchen and went to plant her there. I said we must giver her chance, lets giver her a chance. She's proven without fail that she was sent there to destroy that office. So from today we must stop calling her Public Protector, must call her state protector, that's her role .. state protector. "

He even tweeted.

This is a developing story. The Public Protector’s office is being approached for comment.

The Democratic Alliance also expressed concern about her lack of experience as well as her working as an analyst for the State Security Agency before she was appointed.

Malema challenged Mkhwebane to take the DA to court if allegations that she was a spy agent were not true.

"We must ask her, how far are you with taking the DA to court, because they said you are a spy, If you're not a spy, because now we believe you're a spy, your actions just suggest that you are a spy. So take the DA to court because you said you're going to take the DA to court."
