Foreign-owned shops looted in Northern Cape after teen stabbed to death

Police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property after 26 foreign-owned tuck shops were looted in reaction to a Pakistani national allegedly fatally stabbing a teenager at Kuruman in the Northern Cape.

Lieutenant Colonel Dimakatso Mooi confirmed the incident‚ saying that "the community members want the foreigners out of their village after one of the foreigners allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old boy to death" on Saturday.

The stabbing occurred at Bankhara Bodulong and the foreign shop-owner accused of killing the teen was arrested.

Mooi said that four suspects had been arrested for malicious damage to property and 50 foreign nationals had been taken to a place of safety.

Police are monitoring the situation in Bankhara Bodulong.
