A mother on Tuesday told the High Court sitting in Vereeniging that her slain daughter complained to her about her husband ill-treating her.

Geneé Kester testified that her daughter Ché Fox‚ 27‚ complained to her on many occasions how her husband‚ police sergeant Kennedy Fox‚ 35‚ had even confessed that he was dating another woman.

She said her daughter never spoke about divorcing her husband. But‚ in 2014‚ Ché told her mother that she wanted to separate from Fox and was planning to do so a month before she was killed.

“The crux of their problem was that the accused was having an extra-marital affair.

“Between 2009 and 2010‚ he (Fox) once phoned me to come to their house because there was an incident and he had fought with my daughter. On my arrival the accused was sitting on the couch stabbed on his hands and was bleeding. He said he was stabbed by my daughter.”

Kester said the couple fought after Fox hadn’t slept at home the previous night‚ and when Ché asked him on a separate occasion where he was‚ they then fought and she stabbed him.

On November 1 2010‚ Ché obtained a protection order against her husband which was served by police officers from De Deur police station in the Vaal.

Later that day‚ Fox laid charges of malicious damage to property against Ché after she allegedly burned his police uniform on October 17 2010. Ché was arrested the following day (November 2 2010) and the matter was later withdrawn in court.

Fox‚ who is attached to the Vaal Rand Flying Squad‚ has pleaded not guilty to killing his wife at their home in Rustervaal in the Vaal on November 6‚ 2014.

He allegedly fired a bullet through her head and later went outside the house and fired bullets through the window. Fox allegedly claimed that his wife was shot and killed by an intruder who fired bullets through the window.

 The trial continues.
