There are bees and cows who are fighting President Jacob Zuma from getting milk and honey for the promised land.

That’s according to eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede‚ who was among the few politicians who accompanied Zuma to the Twelve Apostles’ Church in Christ (TACC) International Thanksgiving Day celebrations at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday.

Clad in full Methodist Church regalia‚ Gumede addressed the congregation ahead of Zuma and heaped praise on the president.

Gumede told Zuma’s detractors to buzz off and equated him and Nelson Mandela to the biblical Moses who led the Israelite from Egyptian slavery to the promise land of Canaan‚ a land of milk and honey.

“Our 1994 breakthrough was like entering the promise land of Canaan‚” she said.

“Our President‚ Tata [Nelson] Mandela led us to the promise land of Canaan‚ a land of milk and honey. President Zuma is now fighting for us to get honey and milk but the bees and cows are fighting him. They are refusing for us to share the milk and honey. They want us to sit in the promised land and die in poverty‚ unemployment and underdevelopment‚” she said to rapturous applause.

Gumede said Zuma was fighting “very hard so that we can all get share in the fruits of democracy“.

“We need to pray for him so that God may protect him from all the evil. He is being attacked by devil and the devil is using Judas Iscariot‚” she said in an inference to a biblical sell-out.

“We have to pray for our land because Satan was to use even those close to President Zuma to destroy him. We ask God to protect Zuma from the Judases and Pharisees of our time‚” she said.
