The state believes it has gathered impeccable evidence linking four men arrested for allegedly killing ANC-connected businessman Wandile Bozwana execution-style last year.

Two of the accused formally applied for bail yesterday in the Pretoria Prison Court in Kgosi Mampuru Prison . This was more than a year since Bozwana, pictured, succumbed to injuries he sustained during the ambush on October 2 last year.

A hail of bullets were unleashed on Bozwana while the car he was travelling in with a female companion stopped at a traffic light on the Garsfontein offramp on the N1 highway.

The number one accused Sipho Hudla, 34, from Soweto, is the son of SABC sports commentator Joe Hudla. A statement from Hudla senior was read in court yesterday which sought to confirm that his son was not assaulted by police to confess his involvement in the hit.

Prosecutor Obed Ledwaba told the court Matamela Motapa, 40, from Bramley in Johannesburg, who applied for bail along with Hudla, also confessed.

"Save for making the confessions . the applicants were captured on CCTV footage taken on the day of the incident in Sandton in the presence of each other, their co-accused as well as other suspects who remain outstanding today."

Hudla and Motapa, who were arrested in November last year, both told court they are taxi owners, with five children each.

Their bail application continues on Tuesday.

Their two co-accused are still in custody.
