A taxi rolled multiple times‚ ejecting some passengers and leaving 23 people injured off the R54 in Vaal Marina‚ south of Johannesburg‚ on Thursday.
Several of the passengers were critically injured.
“ER24 paramedics‚ along with various services‚ arrived on the scene and found and found the taxi lying some distance away from the road. Most of the occupants from the taxi were found lying next to the roadside‚” said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.
“On assessment‚ paramedics found that 23 people had been injured‚ several critically.”
The critically injured were given advanced life support on the scene. Patients were taken to Sebokeng and Kopanong Hospital for further treatment.
“It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle‚ causing it to roll multiple times and eject some of its occupants‚” said Meiring.
