A KwaZulu-Natal metro police officer was killed after being shot 13 times on Tuesday afternoon.
Police spokeswoman Thembeka Mbhele said the 36-year-old officer was found around 5.30pm at Q-section in Umlazi‚ Durban.
The officer had multiple gunshots wounds to the stomach and shoulder‚ and 13 cartridges and one live round were found at the scene‚ Mbhele said.
“He was off-duty in his private vehicle. He was wearing his work uniform. The motive is unknown at the moment‚ the police are investigating.”
It is understood that the police officer was shot shortly after visiting his girlfriend in the area.
Mbhele said no arrests had been made by Wednesday morning. – TMG Digital
