While #FeesMustFall protests continue at campuses around the country‚ the minister of higher education will engage with the private sector to find answers to the funding crisis.

Blade Nzimande will on Tuesday “hold a meeting with business leaders to discuss the critical role of business in supporting and finding solutions and new models to achieve sustainable university education and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college system for South Africa”.

Nzimande meeting with the private sector could again fuel suspicions that President Jacob Zuma was forewarned about the announcement last week that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan was to be summonsed to appear on fraud charges.

Gordhan was a surprise omission from a ministerial task team appointed by Zuma “to normalise the situation at higher education institutions across South Africa”.

“We urge all stakeholders including students‚ university management‚ parents and religious leaders to cooperate with the ministerial task team to ensure that the future of our children is not jeopardised‚” said Zuma at the time. – TMG Digital
