Cell phone records linking the former Uber drivers accused of robbing‚ kidnapping and raping passengers to the crimes are part of evidence the state is relying on.
Prosecutor Yusuf Baba told the Randburg Magistrate’s Cout on Tuesday that the evidence the state has against the two men had not been disputed by the defence.
The defence earlier argued that there was no evidence linking the men to the crimes.
“There are cellphone records placing them on the scene of the crime.There is evidence of the use of the victims’ SIM cards by the accused‚” Baba argued.
“There is nothing on record to despute the evidence. “
Baba also argued that the onus was on the accused to prove that they will be acquitted on the charges they are facing.
“I’m requesting the court to deny the accused bail‚” Baba said.
