ANC Youth League treasurer general and entertainment business mogul Reggie Nkabinde will have his empire comprising 24 companies probed by the Hawks after EFF opened a fraud case against him.

EFF spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi told Sowetan yesterday he had opened racketeering and fraud cases against the flashy businessman. Nkabinde co-owns record label Mabala Noise Entertainment with DJ Bongz.

The stable recently signed artists, who include Ricky Rick, Nasty C, Gigi LaMayne and Khanyi Mbau and were reportedly offered lucrative contracts.

In July Mabala Noise allegedly splashed millions hosting a concert featuring US artists Chris Brown, Eve, Tinashe and Slum Village.

According to Legal City, Nkabinde owns 24 companies that deal in construction, steel, publishing and investment, among others.

Ndlozi confirmed that EFF had a score to settle with Nkabinde.

"We have indeed opened a case against Reggie of the (ANC) Youth League," said Ndlozi, adding that the probe would focus on all Nkabinde's companies.

The case was opened at Douglasdale police station last week Wednesday and was transferred to the Hawks two days ago.

Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi confirmed last night that Ndlozi had opened a case of fraud against an individual whom he did want to identify, saying "it was privileged information".

Mulaudzi was also cagey about what the fraud allegations entailed.

"The case was handed over to us yesterday (Wednesday) and our investigators from the Commercial Crime Unit are on top of it," Mulaudzi said.

"There is a lot that we need to look at before we can inform the person who is being implicated."

The case comes barely a week after EFF leader Julius Malema, during a post-elections press conference, accused Nkabinde of using tenders from Water and Sanitation Department headed by Minister Nomvula Mokonyane, whom Malema claimed to have a special relationship with Nkabinde.

Attempts yesterday to get a comment from Nkabinde were fruitless as he ignored our calls and texts. - Additional reporting by Patience Bambalele

WATCH: Mabala Noise Gave Us A lot of Money - Khanyi Mbau

“Look I won’t say how much it is, but we got a lot of money. No one in our stable is hungry. They look after us. They treat us like stars, they make sure we live in good neighbourhoods, drive nice cars, wear nice clothing. They believe in us. The R5 million is a wrong figure, but I won’t say how much, but it’s an amount that changes lives, yes,” she says.
