ANC’s #PeoplesVoices polls ads aren’t about ‘blowing our own trumpets’‚ says Kodwa

Monday will see the ruling African National Congress (ANC) launch “the first in its series of television adverts for the 2016 local government elections”.

“The adverts‚ dubbed the #PeoplesVoices‚ feature a number of South Africans who tell of how their lived daily experiences have changed under the ANC government‚” national spokesperson Zizi Kodwa said.

“Ours has never been about blowing our own trumpets on the many successes we have recorded in our continuing quest to build a better life for all‚ but the steady and consistent changes we have brought about working together with our people.”

The launch is slated to take place in Beyers Naude Square – a stone’s throw away from the ANC’s Luthuli House headquarter’s – at 6pm.

The biggest opposition party‚ the Democratic Alliance‚ launched its TV advert campaign earlier this month during a battle with the South African Broadcasting Corporation‚ which had refused to air it citing rules governing the August 3 polls. The party‚ however‚ described it as “censorship”. — TMG Digital
