Mangaung deputy mayor killed in car accident

The deputy mayor of the Manguang municipality in the Free State‚ Connie Rampai‚ has been killed in a car accident‚ the ANC in the province has confirmed.

It said she was killed on Friday night while driving back from the party’s provincial executive meeting in Johannesburg.

According to reports‚ her vehicle collided head on with a heavy goods truck. The accident

Apparently occurred on the N1 between Verkeerdevlei and Winburg.

The ANC described Rampai as a “committed member of the ANC whose life was defined by her continued activism and his work amongst the many communities”.

 “Comrade Connie has a rich history in our struggle for liberation. She served as a ANC Provincial Executive Committee and ANCWL PEC. Because of her political track record‚ she was deployed to the position of Deputy Mayor in Mangaung Metro Municipality. We have no doubt she has impacted positively on many lives in the Free State province and in Mangaung Metro municipality where her constituency is based. Even in death she will remain the champion of the poor‚” the ANC in the province said in a statement.
