Capetonian Matthew Theunissen continues to be lambasted on social media after allegedly posting a racist Facebook rant against Sports and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula.

His post‚ which went viral‚ comes just days after Rhodes Must Fall activist Ntokozo Qwabe caused an outcry with a Facebook post about making a white waitress cry in Cape Town.

Theunissen lashed out at Mbalula for imposing a ban on SA Rugby‚ Cricket South Africa and Athletics SA hosting international tournaments due to their lack of transformation.

“So no more sporting events for South Africa … I’ve never been more proud than to say our government are a bunch of K*****S … yes‚ I said it so go and f*** yourselves you black f***ing c***s‚” read a post on his Facebook page.

A screengrab of the post was widely circulated on Twitter. The post was greeted with outrage.

Jean-Louis Fourie posted on Twitter: “#MatthewTheunissen is a disgrace to the human race. Such hate speech is totally unacceptable.”

African Dialogue tweeted: “Matthew Theunissen’s racist outburst must be condemned. Equally‚ so must all other racist actions.”

Wesley Fester said: “It seems #MatthewTheunissen has hijacked my Twitter feed. Obviously he did not take lessons from his Aunty #PennySparrow.”

According to his Linkedin profile‚ Theunissen obtained a masters degree in environmental management at Stellenbosch University and works in the field of water resource management in Cape Town.

He appears to have gone to ground after the public backlash.

Meanwhile‚ a petition on change.org calling on Oxford University in the UK to revoke Qwabe’s scholarship had gained more than 15 000 signatures on Tuesday morning.

Qwabe campaigned last year to have a statue of Cecil John Rhodes removed from the university.

Qwabe and a friend‚ Wandile Dlamini‚ reduced waitress Ashleigh Schultz to tears at Obz Cafe in Observatory‚ Cape Town. Instead of leaving a tip‚ Dlamini wrote on the bill‚ “We will give tip when you return the land.” — TMG Digital
