Gauteng premier mulls housing development around Mall of Africa

Gauteng Premier David Makhura on Thursday announced a potential housing development in the area around the new Mall of Africa in Midrand.

“It’s important that people work where they live. We are looking into a housing development in the area‚” he said in an address at the opening of the mall.

Makhura lauded the Mall of Africa as a sign of business trust and faith in the province.

“This investment [Mall of Africa] is a sign of trust in the Gauteng Provincial Government.

“I want to assure the business sector that we will do everything to cut the red tape. Invest in our province‚” the Premier said.

The Mall is expected to have created 14‚000 jobs and the R511 from Woodmead to Tshwane has been expanded to accommodate the anticipated movement in and around the mall.
