'Like Jesus did to water, I turn snakes into chocolate': Pastor Penuel Mnguni

Pastor Penuel Mnguni who has been on the run for several months has hit back at the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL) that has accused him of violating the Bill of Rights by making congregants consume snakes.

Mnguni has come under a lot of scrutiny after posting pictures of him feeding his church-goers snakes, rats and human hair.

The End of Times Ministries pastor stuck to his word saying that his congregants did not consume snakes but chocolate. Likening his actions to that of Jesus who, according to the Bible, turned water into wine, Mnguni claims he also turned the snakes into chocolate which he then fed to his followers.

"I did not feed people snakes I feed them chocolate [because] now this power is on the tongue, so if the power is on the tongue you are able to turn everything into food as Jesus did in John Chapter 2, he turned water to wine. So it's the same process that has happened in the church," said Mnguni.

"Many people they listen too much to media not to the reality, so the reality, here it is, it was chocolate."

The Commission which is chaired by Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva said that Mnguni, who appeared for the first time in months, will face further charges should he continue feeding his followers such things.

Mnguni, who has maintained that he turns the rats into peanuts before feeding them to his congregation said that he will go back to preaching soon despite the warning from the Commission.

The CRL is conducting hearings into the abuse of religion and cultural beliefs.
