Thousands join 'Friends of Fransman' Facebook page

A Facebook page has been created in support of suspended African National Congress Western Cape leader Marius Fransman.

The 'Friends of Marius Fransman' page already has 2 791 members and a prayer service service for Fransman and his family is being organised. It will be held in Vredenda in the Western Cape.

According to the organiser, Bumper Morgen, Fransman will speak at the service.

Some of Fransman's supporters posted comments strongly critical of his suspension from the ANC.

Niyaaz Hakim wrote, "It's not a secret that the very same people who fought and got rid of the greatest Western Cape leader, Ebrahim Rasool, are the very same people trying to get rid of our Chairman Marius Fransman.

"They are greedy, power hungry and only care for themselves and not this glorious organization. They are also the biggest reason as to why we lost the Western Cape in 2009.”

Another supporter, Debbie Jackson, said, "This is another time that I am forced to say history repeat itself over and over again. We as Kullits have been thru so much and endured so much from past and present.

"This time let's not be silent, let our voices be heard. Marius my prayers are with you and your family whatever the outcome of this keep smiling, keep shining."

Randall Meyer said he stood by Fransman. "He is our leader".

Fransman has been suspended pending investigation of a sexual harassment allegation against him.

A 20-year-old woman accused him of inappropriately touching her while they travelled to North West for the ANC birthday rally in Rustenburg in January.

Fransman has alluded to "forces" behind the allegation, which he has vehemently denied.
