Eskom says its prognosis is that there will be no load shedding for summer‚ autumn and going into winter.

The electricity provider said on Sunday that maintenance of its power generating plants was progressing well and that it was making strides with its capital expansion programme.

“We remain focused on delivering on our capital expansion programme on schedule. It was this week announced that ABB South Africa (Pty) Ltd has successfully completed factory acceptance tests (FATs) of the balance-of-plant and Unit 1 at the Kusile power station in Mpumalanga‚ which forms part of their execution of the control and instrumentation (C& I) project at the station.

“The achievement of this milestone in the project gives us confidence that ABB is adhering to the original schedule and is on track to complete the project on time‚” Eskom said.

“When Eskom appointed ABB to execute the C& I contract‚ which is the brain of the power unit‚ it was critical to ensure schedule security and the seamless introduction of an alternative contractor for Kusile‚” the power parastatal added.
