Isibaya actor in bizarre cops and robbers episode

Isibaya actor and fashion designer Thabiso Mfaba, pictured, claims he is still traumatised after being harassed by two police officers.

Mfaba, who appeared on Isibaya last week in the role of a taxi driver harassed by another character, said the incident took place on Saturday in Northgate, north of Johannesburg.

To make things worse, he claims that Honeydew police refused to open a case of assault.

"I am still horrified even now. I am afraid even to walk on the streets because they [police] might be following me. I could get killed. I am actually fearing for my life now."

Mfaba said he was approached by police near the Northgate Mall who asked him where he stayed and he replied that he was from Randburg.

He said a few minutes later, the same officers came back, pushing him around and grabbed his bag and emptied all the contents on the floor.

He said the policemen went as far as stripping him of his socks and shoes.

"They were calling me names, and when I asked what I did wrong, they said I must not talk s***. I was embarrassed and shocked because this happened right at the gate of Los Alamos Complex, and people were watching."

Honeydew SAPS spokeswoman Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs said: "I can confirm that we took note of the complainant's allegation. We're kindly requesting the complainant to make contact with us in order to do a proper investigation into this matter."

Jacobs failed to state why the police could not open the case.

Mfaba said when he got to Honeydew police station, he was attended by a Constable Mabunda who refused to open a case. He said the same officers who harassed him on the road were at the station laughing at him.

"He asked me if I had expected the police to take off my socks and shoes and dress me again? When I spoke to the station commander, he referred me back to the same officer [Mabunda]."

Yesterday, Mfaba went to the Rosebank police where he was advised to go to the SAPS provincial offices .
