The Gautrain service between Hatfield and Pretoria has been disrupted following damage to the catenary line.

Spokesperson, Kesagee Nayager said a truck accident which happened on the highway caused the damage to the line. She said a cement truck overturned and went through a wall and ended up on the railway line.

“A truck accident on the highway caused a fence to fall over onto the catenary line. We can confirm that no trains have been involved in the incident and our technical team is working to restore service between these two stations,” she said.

She said the damage to the overheard power cables would cause serious disruptions which they were hoping to fix before Monday. She added that they were running a bus shuttle service between the two stations until the problem can be fixed.
