Malema failed woodwork again‚ says Mandla Mandela

Mandla Mandela issued a scathing attack on Julius Malema on Friday‚ accusing the EFF leader of “trash can politics“.

In a statement defending ANC policy and practice‚ the grandson of Nelson Mandela said: “It appears‚ though‚ that Julius Malema has capitulated to the kind of thinking that characterised Eugene Terreblanche’s mission to undermine our nascent democracy at any cost.”

Mandla Mandela was reacting to a stinging attack on his grandfather by Malema at Oxford University in the United Kingdom on Wednesday. Malema also attacked Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and businessman Patrice Motsepe at the student forum.

“The deviation from the Freedom Charter was the beginning of selling out of the revolution. When Mandela returned from prison he got separated from Winnie Mandela and went to stay in a house of a rich white man‚ he was looked after by the Oppenheimers‚ Mandela used to attend those club meetings of those white men who owned the SA economy.

He stayed in one of their houses‚ they had access to him 24hours. They told him what he represented would not be achieved‚ that’s when he turned against himself‚” Malema told the students.

“The Nelson we celebrate now is a stage-managed Mandela who compromised the principles of the revolution‚ which are captured in the Freedom Charter.”

In his statement‚ Mandla Mandela said: “Madiba’s legacy of nation building‚ reconciliation and social cohesion stands as a monumental work in progress guided by the Freedom Charter‚ the South African Constitution‚ our Bill of Rights and 103 years of struggle waged by the African National Congress and the broader liberation movement.

“Julius Malema’s rant about Madiba selling out the Freedom Charter is ridiculous in the light of he and his cronies in the EFF having shown disdain for everything that the Freedom Charter stands for – including trashing parliament‚ which is the highest expression of the Freedom Charter’s statement that the people shall govern.

“He is bereft of culture‚ knowledge and wisdom‚ yet he is intent on making parliament ungovernable‚ assaulting the legacy of our heroes and icons‚ rubbishing our democracy and driving business from our shores.

“Julius Malema has no regard for traditional African values such as respect for elders‚ mutual respect‚ as encapsulated in the spirit of Ubuntu‚ or our long tradition of principled struggle for which many generations have sacrificed life and limb. Like those of many of our stalwarts and heroes‚ Madiba’s legacy is unassailable and Julius Malema’s drivel is just that‚ drivel.

“There are no limits to Julius Malema’s naughty behaviour. This time it was Madiba’s legacy that he attacked. He didn’t realise that he was hacking the very branch on which he was sitting. He has failed woodwork again.”
