ANC regrets harm caused by ‘cast’ comment

The African National Congress (ANC) on Wednesday said it regrets “any harm” caused by mistakenly referring to the crew of Emmy-winning documentary Miners Shot Down as “cast”.

The party’s Zizi Kodwa said it acknowledges the error and it “has since been corrected on ANC communication platforms”.

His error prompted the Democratic Alliance (DA) to question “whether Kodwa has even seen the seminal documentary of which he now claims to be so proud”.

His “reference to ‘the cast’ of the documentary is puzzling‚ as the film has no cast‚ and is a collection of unstaged‚ real-life footage and interviews”‚ the DA said.

Miners Shot Down is about the circumstances surrounding the massacre of miners at Marikana in 2013.
