Grenade murder suspect, a former colonel and MK veteran, arrested

The 44-year-old suspect handed himself over to police on Wednesday.

Amanzimtoti police had been looking for the suspect since Sunday 30th of August the day of the incident.

The suspect had allegedly thrown two grenades at his wife after an argument and one of the grenades exploded, killing her.

The victim was Lesego Mohoasa, 33, an air force clerk for the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) at the Bluff Military Base.

It has been reported that her two children, boys, aged 7 and 8 were found in the bedroom of their home in the early hours of Sunday morning, by neighbours. 

The suspect will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

He is facing murder, attempted murder and possession of explosives charges.
