The nationwide strike at Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges which started last Monday has been temporarily suspended pending the outcome of talks with the government‚ the South African Students’ Congress (SASCO) said on Sunday.

“The organisation is entering in discussions with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) around the issues of dispute‚ which led to the strike and these are likely to continue for two weeks.

“Depending on the outcomes of these engagements‚ we are suspending the strike and calling on all our comrades in colleges to go back to classes‚” SASCO said in a statement.
