Young man killed in KwaZulu-Natal accident

KwaZulu-Natal paramedics on Tuesday tried to resuscitate a man and tended to ten other patients injured in a crash between a car and a bakkie on the N2 near Izingolweni‚ inland from Port Shepstone.

Paramedics from several ambulance services‚ including the KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services (KZN EMS)‚ attended to the patients injured in the accident.

“The condition of a young man‚ critically injured‚ deteriorated and he sadly died‚ despite an advanced life support resuscitation effort by KZN EMS paramedics.

“Ten other patients‚ mostly occupants of the bakkie‚ were injured in the crash.

“The patients sustained serious and minor injuries and were transported to Murchison Hospital for continued medical care‚” said Robert Mckenzie of the KZN EMS.

Police would investigate the circumstances resulting in the crash.

“With no prejudice to this crash‚ it has been raining in parts of KwaZulu-Natal today‚ this has resulted in wet roads and has affected visibility in certain areas‚” Mckenzie said.
