Stalker gives soapie star a break

INSPIRATION: Kay Sibiya
INSPIRATION: Kay Sibiya

Actor Kay Sibiya's biggest fan has written him an open letter vowing not to stalk him - well, at least not for the next five years.

The stalker, Nokwethemba Vilakazi of Nkandla in KwaZulu-Natal, poured her heart out in the letter yesterday.

"Due to the unhealthy stalking tendencies other celebrities are facing today, I decide to withdraw everything I've said about you and will not bother you for at least five years," she said.

"However, I'll continue working hard, finish my honours degree, find a job, save money and pay for my fine arts and fashion design courses at DUT.

"I'll complete my studies, travel the world and someday inspire millions of people, just like you."

Speaking to the Sowetan yesterday, Vilakazi said: "When I first saw Kay I wanted to take a selfie with him but my battery was low and I couldn't. But I was impressed by how kind and humble he was. I don't want him for dating or calling him bae (lover) ... I'm just inspired by his work and personality."

The wheelchair-bound 22-year-old is diagnosed with osteogenesis imperfecta, a rare form of osteoporosis present at birth that causes bones to break.

But Vilakazi hasn't allowed her situation to stop her from chasing her dreams. She is currently doing her honours at the UKZN's Howard campus.

Sibiya, who plays the character of Ayanda on Uzalo shared the letter with his friends and followers on social media.

He told Sowetan he didn't consider Vilakazi a stalker. "There are lots of stalkers out there and she is not one of them."
