The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Friday laid charges against former Lonmin director Cyril Ramaphosa‚ former police minister Nathi Mthethwa‚ former minerals resources minister Susan Shabangu‚ national police commissioner General Riah Phiyega‚ North West police commissioner Lieutenant General Zukiswa Mbombo and Lonmin for their role in the Marikana killings.

Julius Malema and other EFF leaders laid charges of conspiracy to murder‚ attempted murder and murder on case number 06/07/2015/Marikana‚ according to a statement released by the party Friday.

“The EFF will never rest until politicians who used political means to pressure the police to kill workers are brought to the book‚” it said.

The party said it had also checked on the progress of cases opened by workers against the police in 2012‚ the year of the Marikana massacre. According to the EFF statement‚ the police said these cases had been referred to Independent Police Investigative Directorate.
