Drugs to the value of R315‚000 confiscated in Knysna

A 33-year-old woman and 38-year-old man are to appear in the Bloemhof Magistrates’ court on Friday after South African Police Service (SAPS) members‚ attached to the Knysna Police station‚ arrested them and confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R315‚000.

“On Wednesday‚ at about 14:30‚ police acted on information received from a member of the public. Surveillance was held during which a man and woman were noticed. The two suspects were searched during which nine plastic bags containing Tik with an estimated street value of R270‚000 were found in their possession.

“Thirty pieces of cocaine‚ also known as half-moon rocks‚ with an estimated street value of R45‚000 were found in two boxes inside a travel bag‚” Captain Bernadine Steyn said.

The SAPS was investigating the possibility that the drugs were from Cape Town.

Both suspects‚ who are from Kwanokuthula‚ are to appear in the Knysna Magistrates’ court on Friday‚ on a charge of dealing in drugs

In Potchefstroom‚ four men were to appear in the Bloemhof Magistrates Court for dealing and possession of dagga.

The men were arrested on Monday by Bloemhof Crime Prevention members.

“The main suspect is aged 28 and is facing charges of possession and dealing in dagga. His three accomplices are aged between 21 and 30‚ they are charged for being in possession of dagga‚” said Captain Paul Ramaloko.

“Members of Bloemhof Crime Prevention were on duty performing stop and search operations around Bloemhof CBD and Boitumelong Township. At about 14:00‚ the police came across three suspects that were stopped and searched. Dagga fingers wrapped in magazines papers‚ newspapers and blue coloured papers were found in their possession.

“The three suspects were questioned and they informed the police that they purchased the finger sized dagga at a certain house in Boitumelong Township.

“The information was immediately followed up by the members and the house was searched.

“Twenty eight small clear plastic bags‚ 23 blades of dagga wrapped in blue papers‚ 19 dagga blades wrapped in cream papers were found under the 28-year-old suspect’s bed. Two half blades dagga wrapped in blue papers were found in his possession which was also confiscated.

“The suspects were then arrested for possession and dealing in dagga.”
