Either alleged hitman Sizwezakhe “Sizwe” Vumazonke is either cracking jokes from his prison cell or someone else is posting on Facebook on his behalf.

Vumazonke‚ 30‚ is accused of shooting dead 29-year-old Uitenhage school teacher Jayde Panayiotou in April.

Jayde’s husband‚ Christopher‚ 28‚ allegedly hired a bouncer at his club‚ Luthando Siyoli‚ 31‚ to arrange the hit.

Vumazonke has been in custody at St Albans Prison since his arrest on May 3. He was out on parole for theft and illegal possession of a stolen firearm and ammunition at the time of the murder.

However‚ it appears from his Facebook profile that Vumazonke may have access to the internet in prison and has been chatting away merrily on social media with his friends

On Saturday‚ Ayanda Tengo posted on his Facebook wall: “No‚ no‚ my tummy is sore thanks to you for making me laugh so much. You’re crazy‚ there’s just nothing you don’t know.”

Vumazonke‚ or someone with access to his Facebook account‚ then responds: “No no‚ what have I done? Don’t laugh too much your tummy will fall [sic].”

Phindiwe Ngumbela then says: “I can imagine Sizwe making you laugh so much.”

The chat‚ in Xhosa‚ ends with Tengo saying what a good friend Vumazonke is and how he always gets her to smile.

Contacted on Wednesday‚ and before even hearing the question‚ Vumazonke’s lawyer‚ Anne Swanepoel‚ said: “I have no comment for you. If you want comment‚ phone someone else.”

On May 5‚ just two days after Vumazonke’s arrest‚ a debate broke out on his Facebook profile after another friend encouraged everyone to pray for him.

Noluvuyo Sodela wrote: “Let’s not judge Sizwe . . . until he is proven guilty. Let’s just pray for him that he is not involved in the accusations.”

Ibanathie Majekejeke said: “He was [allegedly] paid to kill a person and he [allegedly] killed that person‚ so we must pray that he rots in jail.”

Correctional Services officials could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
