The Metro bus service delivery has been found lacking.

Chief amongst the problems hampering service delivery is the endless strikes, the Transport Committee heard.

This causes issues with reliability as commuters revealed; another factor is the driver attitude. 76% of customer complaints are about driver attitudes.

The number of passengers has dropped by 899 707 and 80 buses are not in operation.

Democratic Alliance Councillor Percy Koji gave a speech in Council last week which highlighted the continued Metro Bus losses.

He made mention of the third quarterly report findings which recorded the net loss of R6, 6 Million as a result of under collection of revenue and excess charges of increased kilometres being operated on lease busses.

He says that the 5 year strategy plan must be made available urgently in order to ensure effective and efficient turn around.

In addition it shows that 169 fines were issued due to traffic violation of rules by drivers, “who pays for these fines,” asks Cllr Koji.

Meanwhile PUTCO bus has stopped operations in Gauteng. The company announced on the 28th of June their intention to cease operations from the 3oth of June 2015.
