Guest ‘smokes a joint’ during SABC interview (VIDEO)

SABC Newsroom seems to be the place to expect the unexpected.

Another one of their guests has made the news. Cannabis activist Andre du Plessis from the group, Cannabis Working Group, appeared to be smoking a joint during the interview.

The interview was on the ongoing debate for the legalization of dagga/ Cannabis. Du Plessis was joined in the interview by the Deputy Chairperson of the Central Drug Authority, David Bayever.

Towards the end of the interview the anchor asks both guests if they think South Africa will lag behind on the issue.

Bayever responds by saying that part of the delay might also be attributed to the xenophobic attacks.

A frustrated Du plessis interrupts and states the CDA is 11 years late in presenting their position on the issue and that they should not use xenophobia as an excuse for being late.

As Bayever answers him, du Plessis proceeds to light up what appears to be dagga, or a joint live on air.

He then proceeds to smoke for a few minutes while Bayever is talking to the anchor.

Du Plessis then says he has nothing else to say, gets up and leaves.

This is not the only controversial incident to occur during an SABC Newsroom this year. Last month Eben Jansen was slammed for his aggressive and dismissive behaviour towards EFF Spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi during an interview.
