Mcebo Dlamini caused a lot of uproar when he openly declared his love for notorious Nazi party leader Adolf Hitler earlier this week.

The Wits SRC president wrote “I love Hitler” in a Facebook post, a move that has received a lot of media attention.

But who is this Mcebo Dlamini?

False identity

It seems like controversy follows this gentle-brother as he was in the media in 2014 for lying about his affiliation with the Sisulu family.

For a long time, Mcebo was known as Mcebo Sisulu as he claimed to be the lovechild of Zwelakhe Sisulu, Walter Sisulu’s son.

He later admitted to lying about his identity.

Leadership

He is currently president of the Student Representative Committee at Wits and was part of the group that was able to raise nearly R2million in one month for students affected by funding shortage.

He is also the now suspended chairperson of the ANC Youth League.

Wits is anti-poor

Mcebo was slammed by Wits following his comments that the university is anti-poor.

He claimed that Wits was not registering students whose fees were paid by financial aid scheme NSFAS.

"The university is anti-black and anti-poor and only rich people are going to study [there],” he told The Times.

Kasrils is misleading voters

When ANC stalwart Ronnie Kasrils called on voters to spoil their ballots in the 2014 national elections, Mcebo came out guns blazing saying the call to spoil votes cannot happen in the democratic South Africa.

"We are here to voice our concerns. Kasrils is saying we should not vote, we should spoil our votes. I don’t agree with him. It can’t happen in the democratic country."

"In short he [Kasrils] is saying I fought for your right to vote; now I am going to tell you when to vote and who you should vote for," he told the masses at the Sidikiwe Vukani Vote Campaign launch at Wits.
