The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) will convene on Tuesday for a special sitting to “debate and set a stance on xenophobic acts”.

This follows last week’s peace march‚ where Gauteng Premier committed “to pay special attention to immigrants and further set up a special unit that will focus on immigration matters”‚ a GPL statement said on Monday.

“The debate is intended to unpack the incongruities emanating from these acts and other related incidents…to find resolutions and commonalities on how the legislature…[can] reach a common ground in better dealing with these issues henceforth‚” the statement read.
