Controversial Bishop Paul Verryn‚ Wits Vice-Chancellor Professor Adam Habib and expelled Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi are among those confirmed to address the People’s March Against Xenophobia‚ which takes place in Johannesburg on Thursday.

The march is being organised by “an emergency coalition convened to confront the horrors of xenophobia in South Africa‚ taking a stand to denounce the violence and embrace unity”‚ People's March Against Xenophobia said in a statement.

The coalition hopes that 30 000 marchers will “rally support for unity among principled South Africans standing in solidarity with the mainly poor foreign nationals‚ migrants and refugees of colour under siege”.

Details of the march were expected to be released at a press conference in Johannesburg on Monday.
