Businessman Sbusiso Leope has reportedly stopped production of his energy drink MoFaya in order to conform with the regulatory procedures.

Leope, known as DJ Sbu has been under attack for his energy drink after posting a fake cover of the Forbes Magazine on social media which showed him being featured with his energy drink and also for illegally claiming South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) had approved it.

The businessman has temporarily suspended production until the drinks producers have made amends with SABS.

"We have currently put all MoGaya production schedules on hold until the matter has been resolved.

“We are currently in communication co-orperating with the authorities behind the scenes working very hard to rectify the current error.

“The SABS and NRCS are there to make sure companies adhere to their strict standards of protecting the South African public at large,” said Leope.

Earlier this week, SABS said that it has been made aware there are several companies that were illegally putting their approved logo on their products.

“One such company, which has been active on the issue of the SABS mark of approval on social media, produces the energy drink, Mofaya,” Frank Makamo, an executive responsible for certification explained.
