Zuma attending to SABC board issues

President Jacob Zuma is trying to resolve issues with the SABC board, his office said on Monday.

"The president, who appoints members of the SABC board on the advice of the National Assembly, views stability and good corporate governance at the SABC as being of paramount importance," said spokesman Mac Maharaj.

"He is looking into the matter with a view to finding a solution."

The public broadcaster announced last week it had axed two of its board members.

"The SABC board of directors today [Thursday] convened a meeting to conclude the business of the special board meeting that was adjourned on March 12," the broadcaster said in a statement at the time.

The meeting dealt with the alleged fraudulent conduct and non-disclosure of conflict of interest involving certain board members.

After deliberations the board decided to remove Rachel Kalidass and Ronnie Lubisi as non-executive directors with effect from March 26.
