THE wife of an initiation school headmaster allegedly swore at a 11-year-old girl for walking out of a room where she had been raped by her husband.
The Nelspruit Circuit of the North Gauteng High Court yesterday heard more shocking testimony into the rape of 21 young girls.
Sister Mapalese Khoza, 41, and her husband Johan Jabulani Mlombo, 48, are facing 49 charges of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. They have pleaded not guilty.
The couple are accused of assaulting and raping 21 girls between the ages of nine and 17 in August 2012 at their initiation school in Mahushu outside Hazyview, Mpumalanga.
Yesterday, the girl, who is now 14 years old but was 11 in 2012, said that Khoza scolded and swore at her for walking out of the "dark room" where she was raped by Mlombo .
The girl is the fifth witness to testify through a CCTV screen since the trial began.
She corroborated the testimonies of the other girls by telling the court that she was also called in by Khoza, who asked for her age and ordered her to strip naked. She said Khoza announced her age to the ingoma(initiation school bogey man) who was inside a "dark room" before ordering her to go inside.
She told the court that, though the room was dark, she was able to identify the "bogey man" as Mlombo, whose voice commanded her to "come closer to me".
The girl said a "painful" thrust by Mlombo's penis into her vagina prompted her to scream out loud and leave the dark room. "La-Khoza . ordered me to return," she said.
" I met La-Khoza again on my way out [the second time]; she told me to keep whatever happened in the dark room a secret."
The girl also told the court how Khoza used a red-hot steel whistle to brand a circle mark on her cheek.
The trial continues.
