India's Central Bureau of Investigations has accused 47-year-old Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh of grievous bodily harm after he convinced 400 men to cut off their testicles in 2000.

According to ibtimes a victim's lawyer said that they were told only those who were castrated would be able to meet God.

Singh allowed the painful procedures to be done at a hospital owned by his organisation.

The Central Bureau of Investigations have finally made a breakthrough by receiving statements from some of the victims after years of silence.

With an estimated 50 million followers, the castrated men feared for their lives had they come forward.

According to Patheos.com, the Guru and his organisation deny that they had anything to do with the castrations.

Singh is no stranger to controversy, in 2002, he faced conspiracy charges over the murder of a journalist who was investigating him and it is also alleged that female followers were sexually abused.

Also known as 'The Guru in Bling', the preacher, social reformer, spiritual leader and the head of the India-based socio-spiritual organisation Dera Sacha Sauda is worth an estimated $40 million.
