Cop arrested for stolen car

A policeman was among 25 people arrested for various crimes in the Eastern Cape, provincial police said on Thursday.

Lt-Col Mzukisi Fatyela said a police constable was arrested in Lusikisiki on Wednesday after he was found driving a Jeep reported to have been stolen.

He was expected to appear in the Lusikisiki Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Fatyela said 10 men were arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Majola near Port St Johns in the early hours of Thursday.

He said the men were found in possession of 12 firearms and ammunition.

"The firearms would be sent for ballistic testing to determined whether they were linked to any criminal activities," he said

The men would appear in the Port St Johns Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Another man was arrested for illegal possession of a 9mm pistol and four rounds of ammunition.

The others people were arrested for crimes such as possession of dagga.
