Mini-tornado leave Soweto residents without roofs

A storm described as a mini-tornado has left a lot of people without roofs over their heads in Soweto.

Residents in Protea Glen, Soweto have described the storm as a tornado saying that it started off as light winds with showers but changed dramatically to heavy winds that stripped roofs from a lot of the houses in the area.

Eye witness news said that the storm was terrifying.

No injuries have been reported at the moment.

“Only the houses were damaged on no one was injured,” said one of the sources on eNCA

Other eye witnesses said that some houses were crashed to the ground during the tornado.

Miss Dini ‏@Simply_Dineo tweeted: "Ao shem my neighbour's scream had us running outside...to find her wall down from the tornado/storm earlier:( Shem man."

Residents are now reported to be placing sheets and plastics on their roofs to prevent water from the ongoing rain from entering the houses.
