Cell C client taken off slower payer list: Report

The TransUnion Credit Bureau is no longer reflecting disgruntled Cell C client George Prokas as a slow payer, news website Fin24 reported on Thursday.

His attorney Raymond Druker reportedly told Fin24 that the development paved the way for further discussions between Prokas and Cell C.

Last week, Prokas spent about R61,000 on a banner he displayed on a wall outside the WorldWear Mall onBeyers Naude Drive, Johannesburg.

The banner read: "The most useless service provider in SA -- Cell C Sandton City."

It gave the name of the franchise manager and his phone number, and claimed he had said his "unnamed executive head refuses to assist the customer".

Cell C applied for an urgent interim interdict against the banner. The High Court in Johannesburg dismissed the application last Thursday and ordered that Cell C pay Prokas's legal costs.

According to Fin24, Druker said while Cell C had moved to change Prokas's profile on TransUnion, a dispute over an unpaid phone bill had not yet been dealt with.

"He [Prokas] said he's not even going to talk about anything until that listing is removed," Druker was quoted as saying.

"But now discussions will progress."

However, removal from the slow payers' list did not mean the banner would come down yet, Druker added.
