Graham Jenneker is a man of his word.

The Survivor SA winner promised to put a ring on his girlfriend's finger if he won the reality competition earlier this year.

Today, Sowetan can confirm that the Capetonian popped the question to longtime girlfriend Erin Arendse and she said yes.

During the competition, Jenneker was asked by jury member Zavion Kotze how will the grand prize - R1-million - change his life.

He replied: "I wish to give my girlfriend a wedding she deserves."

Jenneker, a financial executive, confirmed the wedding plans were in full swing after he proposed a few weeks ago.

Ever the romantic, Jenneker surprised Arendse with a trip to Thailand -she thought they were going to Hermanus for the weekend.

On their return he proposed at their flat in Belville with a craft ring he bought at a market in Thailand.

"I wanted to propose in our home that we bought because that's where we will start our new life."

Jenneker later bought a proper ring which he gave to her at the engagement party because he wanted her to have some input.

He described it as a yellow 1carat "soul ring" with the diamond sunken in and a platinum. Now for the wedding scheduled for mid-2015, he said it will not be ordinary. "We don't want to spoil a great surprise for our guests but it will be different and unique, something never done before."

They are also on the hunt for a suitable venue, ruling out a wine farm because it has been done so many times. Jenneker sits for exams for his third degree, a BCom financial accounting in two weeks.
