The search is on for a coveted spot in talk radio as Power FM hunts for someone to replace mid-morning host Eusebius McKaiser.

McKaiser left unceremoniously last Friday after what the PR team called "contractual issues". He announced his departure on Twitter after the show ended.

Power FM executive director Andile Khumalo yesterday said the radio station had two names in mind but would not divulge the candidates.

He said it was important for the station to get someone in the same mould as the feisty McKaiser who will fit into the morning slot.

McKaiser was one of the original personalities who started with the station when it was launched last year.

Others who have packed their bags and left include McIntosh Polela, Asanda Magaqa and Siki Mgabadeli.

Khumalo said although listeners may love the broadcasters, they were bigger followers of the station and therefore not fazed by McKaiser's departure.

Khumalo said management would sort out any contractual issues beforehand with the replacement.

"We hope to find a replacement before month end. We're a better business than we were last year when we were a start-up," he said.

Thabo Mdluli is holding the fort at Power Talk until a permanent host is confirmed.
